Nerds and Music: A Night with Paul and Storm, Patrick Rothfuss and Joel Hodgson

Paul and Storm

An evening custom-built for nerds and geeks of all stripes. Bestselling fantasy author Pat Rothfuss will read from his works, answer questions and tell stories; comedy/music duo Paul and Storm will sing about nuns, chicken nuggets, video games, and an incredibly long song about pirates.

Paul and Storm (Paul Sabourin and Greg “Storm” DiCostanzo) have been writing and performing funny songs together for a long, long time, starting with their stint together in a cappella band Da Vinci’s Notebook. Their music has appeared on pretty much every type of media that exists and they have had their guitar smashed by George R. R. Martin followed by a Neil Gaiman scolding.

In addition to their own performances, Paul and Storm are also co-founders of w00tstock, their geek-oriented variety show co-hosted by Adam Savage (“Mythbusters”) and Wil Wheaton (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”, “Eureka”), which has toured theaters across America since 2009 and whose guests have included Neil Gaiman, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Felicia Day and Chris Hardwick. The duo also co-produces JoCo Cruise Crazy, a Caribbean cruise/concert festival for fans of internet musician Jonathan Coulton, which first sailed in 2011.

Patrick Rothfuss is the New York Times Bestselling author of The Name of the Wind and Wise Man’s Fear. When not working on Book Three, Pat plays with his son and runs Worldbuilders, a charity that raises money for Heifer International.

Joel Hodgson got into Magic and Ventriloquism in sixth grade and then went on to create the Peabody award wining Mystery Science Theater 3000. MST3K produced nearly 200 feature length episodes in a eleven year span on Comedy Central and SciFi. Last year, Joel concluded a six years run "movie riffing" live with the original cast of MST3K in "Cinematic Titanic" in theaters across the country. Joel currently voices the character of Mayor Bill Dewey in Rebecca Sugar’s beautiful and funny “Steven Universe” on the Cartoon Network. This spring Joel will appear as chief engineer Zalian Fleisher in Paul Feig’s new comedy science fiction series “Other Space” on Yahoo Screen.
